·         GENERAL & SAFETY ISSUES

o    SAFETY: Our house sits atop a hill with high decks affording great views.  However, this also means that everyone in your party, especially children, should be careful near the railings and never climb on them.  We accept no liability for any injuries.  Use common sense and protect everyone in your party.

o    LOCK DOORS: For your safety, please lock the doors when you leave the property.  This includes trips to the beach.  We have lived in this house for 3 years and never had a problem, but large groups of tourists are inviting targets for thieves.  We recommend that you enter and leave through the North door with the push button lock, so you never need keys.  The door code will be set to the last 4 digits of the primary renter's cell phone.

o    RESPECT THE OCEAN.  This can be taken many ways and all apply.  However, we want to make sure you appreciate that even small waves of 1-2 feet can knock you down and can injure small children.  It is also common for occasional BIGGER waves to come along.  If conditions seem too rough in front of our house, they will be much calmer between the beach and Mokuaia Island to the South.

o    TRASH AND RECYCLABLES: plastic bags for the kitchen trash and large garbage bags are provided.  Please do not put trash or garbage in the outside trash cans without using the large garbage bags as this will attract pests.  A bin for recyclables (glass and plastic bottles and cans only) is provided outside with the garbage cans.

o    RESPECT THE SUN: It is very common for tourists to become sunburned.  This can be serious for children.  Be sure to use sunscreen and reapply often.  Even a cloudy day in Hawaii can burn you.

o    CONSERVE POWER: Please turn off lights and air conditioning when you are out.  There is an outside light that we recommend leaving on when you are gone.

o    BEACH FIRES:  It is rather common for people to make beach fires on our beach.  However, it is against state law.  A fire ring on our property is provided to allow you to have a fire and be compliant with the law.  We try to supply firewood as our landscape trimming allows.

§  Do not leave a burning fire unattended

§  Do not make fires during periods of high winds

§  Put your fire out with plenty of water when you're done

o    BEACH TOYS: A variety of beach toys including boogie boards, kid's sand toys and a surf kayak are provided.  Do not leave these at the beach or near the hot tub.  Return them to where you found them after each use.

o    SMOKING: Smoking is not allowed in the house at any time.  Do not allow smoke to enter the house.

·         SUPPLIES

o    A reasonable supply of soaps, dishwashing detergents, paper towels, toilet paper and paper plates is provided.  If you need more during your stay, the closest grocery store is the Foodland in Laie just 1 mile south.

o    The propane tank for the kitchen stove is under the house.  It is very unlikely that it will require replacement during your stay.  If it does need replacement contact us and we'll do it as soon as possible.  If it is urgent, the tank from the BBQ can be swapped.

o    Bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths and beach towels are provided for each guest.  If they become soiled you can launder them downstairs.  Laundry soap is provided.

o    Groceries and Alcohol:  The Foodland store in Laie is the closest supermarket and it has most everything you'll need.  However, since Laie is home to the Mormon Temple, they do not sell alcoholic beverages and they are closed on Sunday.  For the best selection of wine, beer and spirits we recommend the Times Supermarket in Temple Valley or the Foodland at Pupukea, though all of the smaller stores along the highway have some selection.

·         HOT TUB

o    Please rinse off sand before entering the hot tub (there is a long hose at the base of the beach stairs near the outdoor shower)

o    If you splash water out of the hot tub such that the water level is below the skimmer when no people are in the tub, please add water.

o    Please keep the cover on and latched when you are not using the hot tub.  (it will blow away if not secured)

o    If the water is cloudy or there are any problems, do not use the hot tub and contact us immediately

o    Please do not adjust the temperature.  It should be approximately 99 deg. F.
